FALCONER GROUP EXPANDS PHILANTHROPIC DIVISION;
HIRES NEW DIRECTOR

TRAVERSE CITY, MICH, OCTOBER 3, 2006 Ė To accommodate recent growth in consulting engagements with foundations and non-profit organizations, Falconer Group has hired Carmen Stevens as its new director of philanthropic services. Stevens will be responsible for existing client engagements and new business development in the Philanthropic Division.

Falconer Group is an independent investment and philanthropic consulting firm that measures success via the "triple bottom line" of financial return, social responsibility and long-term sustainability. The firm includes four divisions:
  • financial planning
  • investment management
  • philanthropic services

Prior to joining Falconer Group, Stevens spent eight years as director of development at the Women's Resource Center for the Grand Traverse (Mich.) area, where she managed and coordinated the annual fund, marketing and special events, grant writing, major gifts, and planned giving for the $2 million non-profit. During her tenure, the organizations annual fund increased 800 percent, while its women's giving circle reached a 95 percent retention rate. Previously, Stevens was vice president of SHSS Philanthropic Consultants, which served arts, environmental, business, and human service non-profit organizations.

Falconer Group has continued to grow its Philanthropic Division through engagements with several foundations across the United States, including Youth Action International, several small family foundations, a large, California-based family foundation, and others. Philanthropic services provided by Falconer Group include endowment campaign assessment and design, donor engagement strategies, assistance in establishing local and international giving circles, charitable gift planning, and services for family foundations including facilitation, next generation planning and investment management.
